Police have released an image of a person they would like to speak to following an incident that saw a man have part of his ear bitten off in the early hours of the morning of Sunday, September 17.
Officers were called to Grainger Street in Newcastle at 1:30am following reports of an altercation between a man and a woman which saw another man try to intervene.
As he did, it was reported that the man who was with the woman assaulted the victim by biting part of his ear off, breaking his glasses and leaving him with facial injuries.

He was hospitalised to treat his injuries but was later discharged.
Following the incident, police launched an investigation and have now released an image of a man who was in the area at the time and could assist enquiries.
Northumbria Police said: "The man, or anyone who knows who he is, should use the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of the Northumbria Police website or call 101, quoting crime reference number 116667R/23."
