Bomb disposal units are on the scene of a suspected hand grenade sighting at a North East beach, as police have cordoned it off.
Emergency services were called to Saltburn Beach on Monday (November 20) morning, following reports that a member of the public had spotted an object believed to be a hand grenade.
A cordon is currently in place and the army was spotted, alongside police officers at the beach.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council has warned the public to stay away from the beach for now.
A spokesperson for Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council said: "A report has been made this morning by a member of the public regarding a possible hand grenade being found on the Saltburn beach.

"Cleveland Police have been informed and they are investigating the situation.
"We advise residents to avoid the area during this time."
Images from the scene show two specialist police officers standing by at a police cordon, while bomb disposal units can be seen near the Ship Inn pub.
