A new Sports Direct store has opened at a North East shopping centre - making it one of the biggest of its kind in the region. 

Unveiling its new store in the MetroCentre on Friday (November 17), the popular sporting brand has introduced multiple new and innovative features to its shop.

Boasting access to the latest sporting gear, the store from the Frasers Group also brings items from the Group's other stores USC, Evans Cycles, and GAME.

Alongside the opening of Sports Direct, Everlast Gyms has also opened a flagship facility, offering athletes the UK’s largest hybrid gym and a world-class fitness experience.

The opening of the store means that customers can get closer to brands like Nike, Adidas, Puma, Under Armour, New Balance and Asics.

It also offers specialist sporting areas for running, football, and outdoor, across men’s, women’s and kidswear, and brings Sports Direct’s market-leading Running Concept to customers.

This leading piece of tech helps customers find the right product for their running journey.

Meanwhile, Everlast Gyms Metrocentre offers a full-round immersive workout experience across, which includes weight, cardio, resistance and functional equipment.

The gym boasts specialised fitness areas, including a full-size boxing ring, The 1910 Zone.

Alongside the opening of Sports Direct and Everlast, the new Flannels store also opened in the MetroCentre on Thursday (November 16), giving customers access to brands like Creed, Tom Ford, and Dolce & Gabbana Beauty 

Flannels Metrocentre will be the first regional store to house its new Home offering, featuring the likes of Versace, Off-White, Assouline, Jonathan Adler, and Pols Potten.
