“A programme of street entertainment will also run at the weekends, and a new performance area around the Grey’s Monument will host live music, choirs, and other entertainment, adding to the festive atmosphere.”

It adds: “Once again, the Christmas market has a particularly local focus and celebrates the talented independent businesses, makers, creators and artisans in our region.

“There will be a brilliant range of local businesses and independent traders who will be selling their bespoke jewellery, eco-friendly beauty products, clothing, churros, homemade chutneys and preserves as well as fabulously unique gifts during the four-week market.”

Visitors can also pop into Moosenwirt, “an alpine-inspired pop-up bar” set inside a yurt near Grey's Monument - the ideal place to sip a mulled wine around a cosy fire pit.
