Officers are appealing for information after a man was reported to have threatened two people with a suspected firearm.

Northumbria Police were called out after a witness reported that a man had pointed a firearm at a man and woman after an argument in Moulton Place, in the Blakelaw area of Newcastle.

Following the incident at 5pm on Wednesday, October 4 the alleged offender then made off from the scene in a vehicle.

The male and female victims were uninjured.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "A man – aged 45 – has been arrested by officers on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

"He has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

"An investigation into the incident is ongoing and are officers are now appealing to anyone with information to contact them."
