At least four people have died as a result of Storm Babet that flooded the UK from Wednesday onwards.

The storm caused widespread flooding and left hundreds trapped in their homes.

A woman in her 80s has been found dead at a home in Chesterfield and her death is believed to be related to flooding in the area, Derbyshire Police said.

The force said they were called at around 10.35 a.m. on Saturday to investigate the death of a woman in Tapton Terrace.

Police described the death of the elderly woman as "sudden" and said officers attended the flat along with Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service and the East Midlands Ambulance Service.

Flooding from the storm, which has hit Scotland and the north east of England particularly badly, could last until Tuesday, according to the Environment Agency.

Travel problems are also expected to continue, with train companies warning of major disruption.

Searches continue in Aberdeenshire

On Friday, a man in his 60s died after getting caught in fast-flowing floodwater in the town of Cleobury Mortimer in Shropshire.

Police Scotland previously said a falling tree hit a van near Forfar in Angus on Thursday evening, killing the 56-year-old driver.

A 57-year-old woman also died on Thursday after being swept into a river in the region.

A search is also underway in Aberdeenshire after a report of a man trapped in a vehicle in floodwater.
