Police have confirmed that they pulled a body from the sea on Tuesday (October 17) morning following concerns from the HM Coastguard.
Emergency services attended the incident just off East Pier in Scarborough at around 9.45am, following concerns for someone's welfare, with police being alerted by the coastguard team.
North Yorkshire Police have since confirmed that a body was found during their searches.

Officers from the police force are now establishing the factors involved.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "We were called by HM Coastguard at 9.45am this morning (Tuesday 17 October) with a report of a body in the water, just off East Pier in Scarborough.
"Emergency services have attended and retrieved a body from the water. Sadly it was confirmed that the person was deceased.
"We are now working to establish the identity of the person and the circumstances around the incident."
If anyone has information about the incident, they are asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote crime reference NYP-17102023-0110.
