There are spooks and scares for all ages as a family-friendly Halloween event returns to the region.
Family Fright Fest, from the organisers of Psycho Path at Lintz Hall Farm in Burnopfield, County Durham is offering a host of Halloween activities aimed at under 12s.
As well as the largest fairground the event has ever had, visitors can enjoy daily stage shows including a superhero spectacular and a Halloween-style panto of Frozen.
Two fun scare mazes are also on offer, along with a fun and games barn, Pick Your Own Pumpkin experience and prizes and giveaways for those who turn up in fancy dress.
Themed street theatre is also taking place around the site, with youngsters able to interact with a range of characters.
The event features the cream of North East street food, including Greek favourites, Acropolis, Doughvine Desserts, Ronnie’s Fish and Chips, Twisted Chick Fried Chicken, burgers from Fat Hippo and Truly Madly Pizza.
Each day ends with a spectacular parade which takes place at 3.45pm.
Family Fright Fest opened yesterday (Saturday, October 14) and will run every Saturday and Sunday until 29 October, opening from 11am until 4pm.
Ticket prices are from £6 for a child under 15 to £9 for adults, with a family ticket for five at £36.
The event takes place on the same site as Psycho Path, the award-winning adults-only scream park which earlier this year was voted the best in the UK.
While evenings may be dedicated to terrifying grown-ups, the daytime Family Fright Fest is suitable for youngsters of all ages.
Mf 2 Christiano Crawford, director and one of the creators of Psycho Path and Family Fright Fest, believes this the best year to date.

“Every year we add more and more attractions and have more and more surprises for youngsters,” he said.
“Family Fright Fest has become as popular as Psycho Path because children just love all of the Halloween style adventures they can have which can be a little bit scary but only in a way that they love.
“We know it’s going to be another brilliant season and we hope as many people as possible will enter into the spirit of the event and dress up.”
