Today we name six people who have appeared in court during the last week for shoplifting.

They were all charged with theft from a shop and received a wide range of sentences after appearing in Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court.

Pleas of guilty were entered in all the cases. 

They were: 

Paul Hardy, 46, of North Road, Darlington, at Darlington, pleaded guilty to stealing a quantity of Harry Potter Branded Goods , to the value of £66.95 , at belonging to Waterstones Ltd in Darlington on July 14.

Also admitted stealing Harry Potter branded goods worth £26.98 at Waterstones on July 21 and theft of Harry Potter Branded Goods , to the value of £60.96 , on July 14.

He was ordered to pay compensation of £127.91. Fine and fined £120.

Anthony Robertson ,41, of Church Street, Seaham, Durham, admitted stealing baked goods worth £8 fron Greggs on Aust 26.

He was ordered to pay compensation: £14.40 and costs of £85. 

Simon Robinson, 39,  of Brougham Street, Darlington, 39, admitted stealing six packs of butter and bacon worth £30 from Springfield News in Thompson Street, Darlington on September 14.

He also admitted stealing chicken products to the value of £5.20 from Greggs in Skinnergate, Darlington on September 30.

Magistrates jailed him for four weeks because he has a "flagrant disregard for people and their property".  He was also ordered to pay a total of £35.20.

Christopher Williams, 41, of no fixed abode, admitted stealing six bottles of prosecco worth £108 from Marks and Spencer in Chester-le-Street on September 8. 

He was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison and ordered to pay £108 in compensation.

Steven Adams, 38, of Rowan Avenue, Washington, admitted stealing  5 x men's fragrance sets and 2 x men's sunglasses , to the value of £148 from Next Retail in Durham on August 12. He also pleaded guilty to stealing 9 bottles of Jack Daniels Whisky and 1 bottle of Grey Goose Vodka of an unknown value from Tesco in Durham on September 26.

He was given a nine week prison sentence suspended for 12 months and nine weeks of rehabilitation activity requiring him to attend appointments and participate in any activity as required for 10 Days. He was also ordered to pay £148 in compensation.

Stacey Aldworth, 35, of Half Moon Lane, Spennymoor, pleaded guilty to stealing makeup and fake tan to the value of £150 from Superdrug in Bishop Auckland on May 15.

She was given a four-week jail sentence suspended for 18 months
