A talented group of young musicians are preparing to take the stage next week at a Darlington theatre for a one-night-only appearance alongside a professional orchestra.
Pupils from Hurworth School have been diligently rehearsing to play alongside the Royal Northern Sinfonia for a special performance at the Darlington Hippodrome on October 9.
The Gateshead-based Sinfonia was founded in 1958 and is the only full-time chamber orchestra in the UK with a “worldwide reputation”.

The group has been working on a self-written – yet un-named - piece they will perform as part of the evening of classic music which will include the well-known Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony.
Joanne Wilson, Head of Music at the Hurworth School praised the opportunity which is “inclusive to all students.”
She added: “This has been an amazing experience for our students to be involved in – to create a whole piece of music from scratch and then given the chance to perform it at the Hippodrome.
“It has been great to have so many involved.”
