A £450 million Amazon fulfilment centre is set to open its doors in Stockton on Monday (October 9), eventually creating over 2,000 jobs in the area.
Stockton's brand new state-of-the-art Amazon fulfilment centre will open its doors at Wynyard Park next week with 1,000 staff members, with plans to increase to 2,000 in time.
Stockton-on-Tees is now Amazon’s fourth fulfilment centre in the North East following the opening of centres in Darlington in May 2020, Durham in September 2020 and Gateshead in September 2021.

The 2,000 new jobs created at the 464,000 sqft site will also take Amazon’s total workforce in the North East to 6,000 full and part-time roles, and the company’s investment in the region to more than £1.7 billion since 2010.
Site Leader of Amazon Stockton, Richard Griffiths, said: “We are excited to be recruiting new permanent jobs offering competitive wages and comprehensive benefits starting on day one.
“The new robotics fulfilment centre is a further sign of our commitment to the communities in which we operate and I am looking forward to the weeks and months ahead as we grow our team by employing talented individuals in a range of roles from Stockton and the surrounding area.”
Speaking on the announcement, Matt Vickers MP said: “Amazon’s commitment to the North East is evidence of the attraction in investing here.
“Amazon has become one of the area’s largest employers and have invested over £1.7 billion across the region, a number which continues to grow.
