A popular, family-run pub in Thornaby has reopened its play area after extensive refurbishment. 

Anson Farm's kids' play area has been closed for weeks, while it underwent a "complete transformation".

Now, the spruced-up play offering at the Farmhouse Inns locations is larger and more varied than its predecessor, featuring brand new slides and tunnels, including a sit-on interactive tractor.

The new area will cater for children of different ages, with "something for everyone" according to staff. All children will be welcome to use the slides and the climbing frames as well as a host of new arcade machines. 

In addition to this, there will be a separate section for toddlers and younger children. This will include a sensory lighting play area in one of the corners with sensory boards on the wall with different textures - which psychologists say is great for children’s motor skills.

Not only that, but this whole section of the pub has also been revamped from top to bottom, including new flooring, paintwork, including a colourful mural on the wall and furnishings.

Although the play area will be notably bigger, Anson Farm’s dining areas have not been affected by the expansion and redevelopment, with planners hoping that redevelopment will let customers "make better use of the existing space". 

Paul Currie, General Manager at Anson Farm said: “Our pub is in very accessible location for families to visit, so it’s great to be able to improve the play area facilities for our younger guests to enjoy. 

“We can’t wait to see the children enjoying themselves in this new and improved space. Thanks to the new slides and tunnels, as well as the arcade machines and sensory areas, we have no doubt there will be endless fun for children to enjoy while they visit.”
