A national retailer is currently in talks to relocate its store on a North East shopping centre after the company confirmed that talks were ongoing.

Retailer Menkind has announced that it is in discussions to relocate its current store on Teesside Park into a bigger and better shop.

The store on Teesside Park, which is located between USC and a vacant unit, has already relocated its Teesside Park store once before - previously occupying the unit now home to Sketchers.

A MenKind spokesperson said: "We are aware of this and are in discussions with Land Sec about relocating MenKind on the retail park.'

This news from MenKind comes after plans for the park, drawn up by owner British Land, revealed that Sports Direct was set to take over units 8A, 8B, and 9A, which includes the former Laura Ashley, USC, MenKind, and the former Argos site, which would become a 'super unit'.

Sports Direct's new home will be 40,000sq ft when it opens in 2024 featuring both a GAME and Evans Cycles.

Flannels have already been confirmed as the retailer moving into the current 20,000 sq ft Sports Direct unit, and will fully refurbish the unit before opening to the public.

Catherine Furlong, centre director at Teesside Park, said: “There’s been a wealth of new openings confirmed over the past 12 months and this is another major announcement for us.

"Flannels has a fantastic luxury brand portfolio, while the expansion of Sports Direct means their store will be bigger and better than ever. We can’t wait for the doors to open on the new stores - it’s a very exciting period for Teesside Park and our visitors!”

While Frasers hasn't indicated an exact month the new stores will be open, it has pinpointed late 2024 for when they will open.

Michael Murray, chief executive of Frasers Group, said: “We are big believers in physical retail and our significant investment demonstrates not only our commitment to the Elevation Strategy, but also our innovative approach to rethinking large retail spaces to make them fit for the future.

"With each new store opening, we seek to set the benchmark for outstanding regional retail as we continue to bring the world’s most aspirational brands, product innovations, and customer experiences to regional consumers across the UK.”
