Seven motorists have been named and fined in court after being caught speeding in County Durham.

The cases were heard at Peterlee Magistrates' Court in the last week.

Andrew Robert Milley, 29, of Cheshire Avenue, Sunderland, was caught exceeding the 30mph speed limit on Wellfield Road, Wingate, while driving a Vauxhall on March 19.

The case was found proven and he was fined £440, and ordered to pay a surcharge of £176 – a total of £706. His licence was endorsed with 4 points.

Sophie Price, 25, of Brook Terrace, Darlington, was caught exceeding the 70mph limit on the A1(M) J61 Bowburn to J60, Bradbury, while driving a Mercedes on March 25.

She pleaded guilty and was fined £116.00 and ordered to pay a surcharge of £46 and costs of £90 – a total of £252. Her licence was endorsed with 3 points.

Simon Frederick Milton, 43, of Ely Terrace, Stanley, was caught exceeding the 70mph speed limit on the A1(M) J61 Bowburn - J60 Bradbury while driving a BMW on February 6.  The case was found proven.

He was fined £1,200 and ordered to pay a surcharge of £480 and costs of £85 – a total of £1,765. His licence was endorsed with 5 penalty points and he was disqualified from driving for 6 months

John Daniel Lumb, 45, of Woodside, Darras Hall, Ponteland, was caught exceeding the 70mph speed limit while driving an Audi on the A1(M) J60 Bowburn - J61 Bradbury on December 19 last year.

He pleaded guilty and was fined £153 and ordered to pay a surcharge of £61 and costs of £110 - a total of £324. His licence was endorsed with 3 points. 

Vigan Qehaja, 39, of North Road, Spennymoor, was caught exceeding the 50mph speed limit while driving a Ford Transit on the A690 at West Rainton on December 15 last year. 

He pleaded guilty and was fined £261 and ordered to pay a surcharge of £104 and costs of £110 - a total of £475. His licence was endorsed with 4 points.

Anthony Peter Dew, 41, of High Beaumont Hill, Coatham Mundeville, was caught exceeding the 70mph limit while driving an Audi A1(M) Southbound J61 Bowbum to J60 Bradbury, on November 11 last year.

He pleaded guilty and was fined £138 and ordered to pay a surcharge £55 and costs of £110 - a total of £303. His licence was endorsed with 3 points.

Joanne Darling, 54, of Bulkington, Bedworth, Warwickshire, was caught exceeding the 70mph motorway speeding limit while driving a Volkswagen on the A1(M) J61 Bowburn to J60 Bradbury, Durham on March 19.

She pleaded guilty and she was fined £307 and ordered to pay a surcharge of £123 and costs of £90. Her licence was endorsed with 3 points.
