A new art gallery and gift shop is set to open in Darlington town centre next week.

Changes Gallery and Gifts have announced they will be opening their doors on Skinnergate in Darlington next Sunday (October 1).

The art gallery and artisan gift shop will be offering a variety of wares to customers including artwork, lamps, and other household items.

A spokesperson for Changes had alerted Darlington residents to keep an eye on the site as it marches towards its opening.

They said: "Welcome to Changes Gallery & Gifts. This brand new gallery will open on 1st October 2023.

"The idea of the gallery is a combination of Diane Patterson, wildlife artist, and husband Col, bespoke picture framer.

"Follow our progress creating the gallery ready for opening.

"We will be calling in help from family and friends to help us be ready on time. Watch this space!"

The store will feature work from Whitley Bay's upcycled lamp makers LampsCameraAction, illustrator Tom Mankin, and artist Jo Liddle.

Artwork on show at the gallery will include illustrations, photography, paintings and more.

Tom Mankin is an illustrator based in the North East of England who will be providing the gallery with art prints, homeware and greeting cards.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Changes highlighted Jo Liddle and their contribution of "thought-provoking" art to the space.

Adding to this, wildlife photographer Phil Benton's work will also be showcased in the gallery.

A Changes spokesperson said: "I am so pleased Phil has agreed to display his wildlife photographs and gifts in the gallery.

"We have known Phil for many years now and a you couldn't meet a nicer guy."
