A County Durham mum who died of cancer has been described as having 'boundless spirit', as a fundraiser has been set up to help her family pay for her funeral.

Jade Nichols, 33, from Spennymoor, died on Thursday, September 7 after battling cervical cancer for 11 months - leaving behind her husband Craig, children Clay and Axel and stepdaughter Luna.

Since her death, tributes have flooded in for the 33-year-old, including from the Bradley Lowery Foundation, who supported her through her gruelling radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment.

Paying tribute to the County Durham mum, the Bradley Lowery Foundation noted that she faced the "relentless battle against cancer" with "unwavering grace and determination".

A statement issued by the charity following Jade's death read: "Jade’s life was a testament to courage, strength, and resilience.

"Throughout her journey, she illuminated the lives of those around her with her infectious smile and boundless spirit.

"Jade’s kindness knew no bounds, and her compassion touched the hearts of everyone she met.

"She was a source of inspiration, reminding us to cherish each moment, embrace life’s challenges, and find beauty even in the darkest of times."

While battling cancer, many funds were raised including taking part in a three-peak challenge within 24 hours, but, sadly, she passed away before the £75,000 target could be raised.

This grit and determination made her the "inspirational character" who battled cancer until the end, according to the Bradley Foundation.

The statement from the charity added: "Though she may no longer be with us in person, Jade’s memory will forever be etched in our hearts.

"Her legacy lives on through the love and warmth she shared with friends and family.

"We need to remember Jade, not for the pain she endured, but for the love she gave and the joy she brought into our lives.

"Jade will never be forgotten."

Alongside the tributes pouring in following Jade's death, a fundraiser has been set up to support her family with funeral costs, a memorial, and flowers.
