Reality TV star Scarlett Moffatt has responded to social media trolls who criticised her choice of footwear for her eight-week-old son.

The trolls took aim at Scarlett because she allowed her son Jude to wear a pair of soft-based crib shoes in a recent family photo.

The star, who rose to fame on Gogglebox, took to Instagram to share the photos, expressing her joy at spending quality time with her family.

However, instead of receiving praise and admiration, Scarlett, who hails from Bishop Auckland, faced backlash from online trolls.

In her caption, Scarlett wrote about her enjoyment of a family gathering to celebrate her Nanny's 70th birthday, including playing bingo and eating burnt sausages.

She also mentioned that Jude went in a pool for the first time.

Despite the innocent nature of her post, numerous comments focused solely on the choice of footwear for her young son.

Scarlett responded to the criticism, explaining that the shoes in question were Nike crib shoes with soft bottoms, not trainers.

While some of her followers supported her and praised her son's adorableness, others continued to criticize her decision to have Jude wear shoes at such a young age.

One commenter expressed concern about the importance of foot care for babies and recommended that Jude should only wear socks or babygrows.

The criticism intensified, with some individuals saying that babies should not be subjected to the world of fashion and that their toes should be free.

However, numerous comments leapt to the defence of Scarlett, with one person saying that it was her choice as a parent and criticized those who felt entitled to belittle a young first-time mother.

Others also praised Scarlett for doing what she felt was best for her child.
