Officers investigating the death of a man at a North East tower block have renewed their appeal for witnesses to come forward.

Christopher Phillips, 40, was found with serious head injuries at Tennyson Court, on Sunderland Road, in Felling, Gateshead at 9am on Monday (August 14).

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced deceased.

Officers investigating Christopher’s death have now set up a Major Incident Public Portal with a dedicated website link for anyone wanting to provide information which may assist their enquiries.

Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Angela Hudson, of Northumbria Police, said: “A full and thorough investigation is continuing as we look to determine the circumstances around Christopher’s death.The Northern Echo: yson Court, Gateshead where the body of a man was discovered yesterday

“I would like to thank the local community for the cooperation they have given by providing us with information.

“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious during the late evening of Sunday (August 13) into the early hours of Monday (August 14) in and around the Tennyson Court area.

“We are also attempting to trace Christopher’s movements prior to the serious assault which was sadly inflicted upon him.The Northern Echo:

“He was known to frequent Washington Galleries shopping centre, as well as the Leam Lane Estate and the Tennyson Court areas of Gateshead.

“If anyone else who is yet to come forward has information which you think may assist us in our enquiries, please get in touch immediately so that we can provide Christopher’s loved ones with the answers they deserve.”
