Foodie lovers of Seaham are in for a treat this weekend as Seaham Food Festival comes to Durham’s Heritage coastline.

Among the many regional food and drink traders showcasing their best creations, there will be celebrity chefs and local entertainers.

Whether you fancy a gluten-free dish, Thai curries, Greek gyros or endless varieties of sausages and cheeses, there is going to be something for everyone.

Where is Seaham Food Festival 2023 and when is it?

The popular food festival in the harbour town will take place on the 5th and 6th of August, making it a weekend you won’t want to miss.

It will be located on the Durham coast from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.

Entry into the festival is free and you will not need a ticket.

For those wanting to bring their fluffy companions along, the Seaham Food Festival website says: “Dogs are welcome at the festival but please be aware that a large number of people attend the festival.

“We would recommend that dogs are kept on a lead and please be a responsible owner and clean up after your dog.”

What’s on at Seaham Food Festival 2023?

Just some of the celebrity guests appearing on Saturday will be MasterChef 2023 Champion Eddie Scott who will be joined by Great British Bake Off 2022 winner Syabira Yusoff.

For those interested in Vegan baked treats, Freya Cox, will also be taking to the cookery stage.

On Sunday, visitors can expect to see Nadia and Dina Sawalha (also known as The Curly Cooks of Croydon), Nikita Pathakji, MasterChef Professionals 2022 Champion and another Bake Off star Briony May Williams.

TV chef Chris Bavin will be returning to host the cookery theatre and will introduce the famous faces.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a foodie celebration without around 120 street food traders and artisan food producers, live music, free family fun and much more.

Travel guidance for Seaham Food Festival 2023

If you are looking at ways to get to Seaham Food Festival, there will be an accessible park-and-ride service running for visitors, departing from Spectrum Business Park to the town centre.

The official website adds: “Buses will depart from the Business Park from 9.30am on Saturday and Sunday, and the last return bus will depart from bus stop opposite Seaham Sea Angling Club at the top of the Harbour road at 5.30pm on Saturday and 4.30pm on Sunday.

“Return tickets cost £2 for adults, 50 pence for children aged five to 15 years old and are free for those under five.”

Although the town centre car parks will be open, it’s been advised they will be busy and drivers should be aware of diversions due to road closures for the event.

The following roads will be closed: B1287 North Terrace from its junction with Tempest Road and southwards to the junction with Marquess Point and incorporating the access road around Terrace Green Car Park. Diversions will be in place and signposted.
