Just over a year after petrol prices in the UK soared to £2 a litre, prices have now dropped over sixty pence per litre in some parts of the North East.

Drivers are getting a better deal when they fill up their cars as prices have dropped just in time for the summer holidays.

On average, you can get a litre of diesel for 144.47p and a litre of unleaded for 143.22p.

Here is a list of the cheapest fuel prices in County Durham, Darlington, and Teesside according to Petrol Prices as of July 20, so you can get the best deal when you fill up your car.

Durham
