One person has been taken to hospital after a lorry collided with a central reservation yesterday.

Northumbria Police have confirmed they received a report of a crash on the A1 Northbound, near the Kingston Park and Gosforth Park turnoff, at 6:45pm yesterday (July 17).

They said it was reported that a lorry had collided with the central reservation.

They also confirmed no serious injuries were reported, while the road operated with a single lane for some time.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At 6.45pm yesterday (Monday), we received a report of a collision on the A1 northbound, near the Kingston Park and Gosforth Park turnoff.

“It was reported that a lorry had collided with the central reservation.

“No serious injuries were reported and the road was operating with a single lane for some time. The road has since fully re-opened.”

A NEAS spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision on the A1 northbound at 6.43pm this evening.

"We dispatched one ambulance crew, two crews from our Hazardous Area Response Team and a clinical team leader, and transported one patient to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital."

According to AA traffic maps, two lanes were closed after a crash on the A1 Western Bypass Northbound from J78 Kingston Park Road (Kingston Park / Gosforth Turn Off) to J79 A1056.
