North East singers have the opportunity to impress Voice UK judges at an upcoming open mic night.

The event will be hosted by Oakleaf Sports Complex at 7.30pm on July 27.

Producers from one of the countries favourite talent shows will be on video link on the lookout for outstanding talent.

The ITV advert reads: "The Voice UK applications are now open.

"Do you think you've got what it takes to turn a chair?

"We are on the lookout for incredible solo artists, duos, trios and groups of up to eight for the Voice UK 2024.

"Oakleaf will be hosting an open mic virtually attended by the producers of the Voice UK.

"If you want your voice to be heard, come and see us.

"All music styles are welcome! Good luck."

It goes on to explain that acts should prepare one song with a backing track or instrument.

The Voice has been a huge hit since it premiered on BBC 1 in 2012.

The original panel of four judges included will.i.am, Jessie Jay, Sir Tom Jones and Danny O'Donoghue.

Guest judges have appeared throughout the years stars such as Kylie Minogue, Boy George, Rita Ora and Olly Murs.

After five popular series on the BBC, ITV acquired the rights and the show has reached even greater heights in recent years.

Andy Clark, manager of Oakleaf Sport Complex, said: "We are really excited.

"One of the producers got in touch after seeing our successful open mic nights on social media.

"I instantly got back to them and said we would love to get involved.

"We've had so much interest that we might need to do it on more than one night.

"It's a great opportunity to showcase local talent and get someone who lives nearby on TV."
