Aerospace company Leonardo is recruiting for its first tranche of engineering roles in the centre of Newcastle, to work on some of the UK’s most cutting-edge defence and security projects.

Top engineers from Leonardo want to speak to systems, software and electronics engineers at an event at the Core in the Helix on July 12, to share details of the fascinating technology they could work on that is powering some of their top UK projects.

These include the programmes to deliver the new radar for the RAF Typhoon aircraft, infrared countermeasures that protect aircraft across the globe, helicopters and also surveillance radars for the Norwegian Search and Rescue service.

The Technical Lead for Leonardo in Newcastle, Michael Young, grew up in Cramlington, 10 miles north of the city, attending King’s School after attaining a scholarship before studying Electronic Engineering at Durham University. He is excited about what the opening of the new Leonardo site at the Helix could mean for engineers across Newcastle and the North East.

Michael said:” These new roles represent the first opportunity for engineers to work on our world-leading aerospace technology right in the centre of Newcastle. I think all engineers crave a challenge and you couldn’t wish for greater challenge than working on some of these programmes.
