A person has been taken to hospital after a one-vehicle crash on a County Durham road this morning.

Durham Police confirmed they received a report of a crash on the A67 in Barnard Castle at 7:40am on Thursday (June 29).

A spokesperson for the force said a driver had been taken to hospital following the incident.

A Durham Police spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a one vehicle collision on the A67 near Barnard Castle, at about 8.20am this morning.

"The driver was taken to hospital for treatment."

This comes after the crash caused heavy traffic and a partially blocked road on the A67 both ways from Moor View to Whorlton turn off.

The incident has now been cleared according to AA road maps.
