A major development to breathe new life into the oldest part of Middlesbrough and retain hundreds of key jobs has reached a significant milestone with construction work now complete.
The landmark Boho X office accommodation in St Hilda’s – which will boost Middlesbrough’s thriving community of digital and creative businesses in the wider Boho zone and be home to BUSINESSiQ Award winners Double Eleven - was supported with £21m in funding from Tees Valley Combined Authority.

Middlesbrough Mayor Chris Cooke credited former Middlesbrough mayors Dave Budd and Andy Preston for their involvement in the project.
“Both of my predecessors shared a commitment to bringing the jobs of the future to our town,” Mayor Cooke said.
“This magnificent building helps us retain hundreds of exciting roles in the centre of Middlesbrough.
“The thriving company that will be based here is a global leader in its field and it’s a massive boost to Middlesbrough’s reputation to have their headquarters here.
“We need to be ambitious and show our young people that they can follow their dreams in their hometown. Developments like this do just that.”
Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: "It's great to see Boho X is finished and ready to host hundreds of local jobs in Middlesbrough town centre.
“This means more people in work, spending time in the town centre and supporting other local businesses.
“It also means that it’s easier for our local talent on Teesside to stay close to home and build good careers locally without feeling as though they need to move away to build a life and a career, but this is just the beginning.

“There’s a lot to do, but the new Development Corporation is primed to help unleash Middlesbrough's potential, and a brighter future for local people."
The complex has open plan offices, a lecture theatre and ground-floor gym space and will imminently be handed over to the tenant to allow fit-out to take place before staff move in.
The Boho X development was delivered by Middlesbrough Council's Capital Team with BCEGI as part of a consultant team including JM Architects, Gardiner & Theobald and Arup. The contractor was Galliford Try.
