A delivery van that got wedged between the bottom of a hill and a junction has caused chaos on a County Durham road after it blocked traffic for 50 minutes. 

The DPD vehicle, which was out for routine deliveries on Tuesday (June 6), got into trouble on the road Middlestone, County Durham after trying to negotiate a tight turn.

After attempting to turn right from a steep decline, the van became wedged in the middle of the road - with police and council wardens having to direct traffic around the vehicle.

The jammed deliver driver was stuck on the road for 50 minutes until it was recovered.

After the incident, Durham County Council's wardens took to social media to share their experience of helping the van - with the page saying: "Warden found a delivery truck stuck across the road near Middlestone on Tuesday evening which blocked the road for around 50 minutes.

"The wardens directed traffic around the area until the van was recovered."
