A woman from Stockton has written, and is starring in, a show that is set to be performed in a theatre on 42nd Street in the heart of New York City’s Theatre District.
Francesca Bolam’s story, Hoyt St, will debut at Theatre Row on 42nd Street on Broadway.
The play explores the story of Melissa, a struggling writer, who, after given an opportunity to have her work produced, finds her voice through the unravelling of her romantic relationship with Jay.
The piece is written by and starring Bolam and explores many themes of love, loss, heartbreak, and perseverance.

Alongside Bolam’s own narrative within the play, some of the cast include Derick Ansah (No Hard Feelings, Sony Pictures), Natasha Jain (The Butcher, Andrew Bliss) Chris Hahn (The Tempest, Proof, Goldberg’s Kaddish) and it is being directed by award-winning director, Joseph Fusco (Finish Line OTB, Chloe, A to Z.)
Ms Bolam said: “I am so excited to be given this opportunity. My work is literally going Off Broadway which feels like a dream.
“I am thrilled to be performing alongside such an incredible cast and director. From the first read of the play each member was so enthusiastic. I am so grateful.”
The 29-year-old from Stockton debuted another of her plays, titled Untitled Monologues, at Broadway Rogue Theatre Festival in December 2020.

Untitled Monologues explores the experiences of addiction, mental illness, and loss, through the journey of five women in therapy.
She has performed and collaborated with well-known venues and performers in New York such as The Peace Poets and The Poetry Project.
Hoyt St will be performed at Theatre Row, Theatre 1, Wednesday, June 14 as part of the Rogue Theater Festivals 2023 selections.

Francesca Bolam is a British-born Brooklyn-based Actor and Writer. Bolam graduated The American Musical Dramatic Academy in New York & LA in 2014.
Bolam gained her BFA in Musical Theatre from The New School NYC. She gravitates towards works that raise awareness, educates, and explore relevant social topics and injustices.
