OWNERS of a village pub have submitted a planning application to North Yorkshire Council to construct a side and rear extension.
The plans also include the lifting of a roof and cladding of existing outbuildings, at the Bay Horse Inn, Hutton Rudby, near Yarm.
It lies within the boundary of the Hutton Rudby Conservation Area. The public house is a Grade-II listed building.

The proposed changes add to the existing building and condense the existing spaces, as they bring the building together as one, rather than a disjointed assemble of outbuildings and existing cottages.
A planning statement for the plans state: "The listing does not refer to the interior which might indicate that little interest remains. The pub has failed and been closed for some time.
"It is clearly an important contributor to the Conservation Area and this proposal has been designed to both respect the listing and the buildings impact on the Conservation Area as well as creating a facility which can be a commercial success in the longer term."
