A North East man has been fined after failing to pay a train fare while travelling in the region.

Ainsley Baldwin, aged 26 of Spring Close in Stockton, had his case heard before Teesside Magistrates Court on May 19.

He was fined £220 after being caught travelling in the region without paying for a ticket.

Baldwin travelled on Friday, September 30 in 2022 between Seaton Carew and Sunderland station and failed to pay for a £9.10 ticket.

During the journey, he was asked to provide a valid ticket by the conductor but failed to do so and he also could not pay for the journey he was making.

Baldwin was proven guilty in court despite his absence and was made to pay £88 to victim services.

He was also made to pay £150 in court costs.
