Four fire engines rushed to a fire in Stockton at a derelict building this morning.

The fire service was called at 6.30am to the incident on Yarm Road in Stockton today (Thursday, May 18).

Cleveland Fire Brigade was on the scene for over two hours trying to extinguish the flames.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Fire Brigade said: “We were called at 6.30am on 18/05/2023 to an incident on Yarm Road, Stockton. Derelict building on fire.

“Two fire engines in attendance from Stockton and two from Thornaby.

“Four Breathing Apparatus and two Hose Reels have been used so far to extinguish the fire. We are still at the scene at 08.40am.”

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: “Police were informed of a fire at an address on Yarm Road, Stockton at around 6.30am this morning (18th May).

“There were no reports of any injuries.

“The fire is currently being treated as suspicious and enquiries are ongoing.

“We would appeal for anyone with information to contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number quoting ref 094966.”
