A teenager was arrested after police found a knife and drugs during a stop and search on a North East street.

A boy, 16, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class B drug and possession of a bladed article after a stop search on Tarring Street, Stockton yesterday (May 10).

Officers from Stockton’s Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) carried out a stop search on two teenage boys before finding the items.

Drugs, believed to be cannabis, and a knife were found during the search.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class B drug and possession of a bladed article after a stop search in Stockton.

"Officers from Stockton’s Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) carried out a stop search on two teenage boys on Tarring Street, Stockton on Wednesday 10th May.

"They recovered a quantity of drugs, believed to be cannabis, and a knife."

The 16-year-old has been bailed pending further enquiries while a second teenager was reported for summons in connection with possessing a Class B drug.
