The fire and rescue were last night called out to rescue a youth from a sticky situation  - as the boy had become stuck in a basketball hoop.

The incident log from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service shows that yesterday evening (May 6), at 5.07 pm, firefighters were called out to Forest Drive, in Colburn, by the police.

The Richmond crew of firefighters were to help free a youth from a basketball hoop on a basketball court after he got himself stuck.

In their incident log, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service write: "At the request of Police, Richmond crew assisted a youth back to ground safely after he had become stuck in a basketball hoop on a basketball court."

This is not the first time that this has happened; the Keighley News in West Yorkshire reported that a "teenager prankster" got stuck in a basketball hoop in 2012.

He also has to be freed by firefighters.
