A County Durham road has been blocked in both directions after a car "swerved" and crashed into a lamppost this afternoon.
Durham Road in Bishop Auckland was left blocked in both directions after the driver of a Scirocco lost control and collided with a lamppost shortly before 2pm today (April 24).
Durham Police said nobody is believed to have been injured in the incident.

They also confirmed the recovery of the vehicle is currently taking place.
A Durham Police spokesperson said: "Police were called shortly before 2pm today (April 24) to reports of a one vehicle collision on Durham Road, Bishop Auckland.
"It involved a scirocco which lost control and collided with a lamppost.

"Nobody is believed to have been injured and recovery of the vehicle is currently taking place."

A motorist who witnessed the scene said "I was travelling right behind the car that crashed."
"The driver seemed ok, but the front of the car is badly smashed up and airbags were out.
"If this happened 2 seconds later it would have been my daughter and I.
