Three men have been charged with affray and robbery in connection with a burglary in County Durham which saw a street locked down last week.

The incident happened on Seventh Street, in Horden, at about 1.20am on Friday (April 14).

Richard Anthony Dickson, 34, of York Road, Peterlee; Paul Donoghue, 32, of Woodland Crescent, Kelloe and Thomas Findlay, 30, of Roseberry Road, Middlesbrough, appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.

Additionally, Findlay was also charged with burglary and three counts of fraud by false misrepresentation, while Donoghue was charged with criminal damage.

Dickinson and Donoghue were remanded into custody and Findlay was given conditional bail.

They are next expected to appear at Durham Crown Court on May 16.

A Durham Police spokesperson said: "Three men have been charged following an aggravated burglary in Horden last week.

"Officers were called to the incident in Seventh Street, just after 1.30am on Friday, April 14 where four men and a woman were arrested.

"Richard Anthony Dickson, 34, of York Road, Peterlee, has been charged with affray and robbery.

"Paul Donoghue, 32, of Woodland Crescent, Kelloe, has been charged with affray, criminal damage and robbery.

"Thomas Findlay, 30, of Roseberry Road, Middlesbrough, was charged with affray, burglary, robbery and three counts of fraud by false misrepresentation."

Another man and woman who were arrested in connection with the incident have also been bailed whilst enquiries continue.

Police said the property was broken into and cash and other items were stolen, before those responsible drove off

Officers attended and stopped the vehicle nearby.

Specialist officers were spotted at the scene throughout the morning, while at least four police vehicles could be seen in Horden.
