Paramedics treated a motorcycle rider at the scene of a crash with a car at a Spennymoor roundabout this afternoon (Friday, April 14).

Emergency services attended the scene of the crash near the King Street roundabout in the County Durham town, after receiving reports a motorbike and car had collided shortly after 3:20pm.

Durham Police have confirmed the motorbike rider, believed to be in his 50s, was treated by paramedics at the scene.

They said the crash had caused a partial blockage of the road.

In a statement, a Durham Police spokesperson said: "We were alerted shortly after 3.20pm today to a crash between a motorbike and a car near the King Street roundabout, Spennymoor, which caused a partial blockage of the road.

"The rider of the motorbike, a male believed to be in his 50s, was treated by paramedics."

The AA reported earlier the road has been partially blocked both ways on King Street, at Oxford Road.

A NEAS spokesperson said, "We received a call at 15:17 this afternoon to a road traffic incident involving a vehicle and a motorcycle on the junction of Oxford Road and King Street, Spennymoor.  

"We sent one emergency ambulance and took one male patient to University Hospital of North Durham with a leg injury for further treatment."

According to AA traffic maps, the incident has now been cleared.
