The first pictures have emerged from the scene as crime scene investigators carry out forensic examinations on a North East street where a man died and a second was arrested.

Emergency services were called to Oakrise, in Ormesby, Middlesbrough, on Friday evening (April 7) at around 7pm.

Cleveland Police have confirmed a man, 54, died at the scene, while another man, 37, has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Meanwhile, both the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) and Cleveland Fire Brigade (CFB) attended.

The Northern Echo:

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: “Officers attended a property in Oakrise, Ormesby at around 7pm yesterday (Friday 7 April 2023) after receiving reports of concern for the safety of a man.

"Shortly after arriving at the property, a 54-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"A 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

“Officers remain at the scene while enquiries continue.”

This comes after police were seen attending the property on the quiet cul-de-sac yesterday evening.

Speaking on the incident, an NEAS spokesperson said: “We were called at 7.06pm to attend an incident at a private address in the Middlesbrough area.

“We dispatched a paramedic ambulance and a clinical team leader to the scene.”
