An elderly Lidl shopper was left with a fractured hip in an assault at a Lidl store last month.

The man, aged 80, was waiting to be served at the discount store with his wife when another man pushed him, causing him to fall over and fracture his hip.

He was left with hospitalised for several days while he received treatment for his injuries.

The suspect, believed to be in his late sixties to early seventies, made off from the Lidl store leaving his victim in pain.

The incident happened at the bargain brand’s store on Tower Street in Stockton at around 2.05pm on Sunday March 19.

Officers are now appealing for information to find their suspect, who is described as being a white male, around 5ft 8in tall, with grey hair balding on the top. He was wearing glasses, a dark coat and white or cream jumper over a black collared shirt at the time.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson added: “Police are appealing after a man was left with a fractured hip in an assault in Lidl, Stockton.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101, quoting incident number SE23052287.
