Giant easter eggs have descended on a heritage rail line this week.

The Weardale Railway has launched a giant egg hunt with 18 huge eggs for kids to spot over the Easter weekend.

The eggs are positioned along a six-mile stretch of track between Stanhope and Wolsingham and have all been designed with the help of local schools, businesses, community groups and charities.

Anyone taking part can collect a spotting sheet to help them spot the giant eggs along the route and can buy a ticket at the stations.

The event launched on Wednesday (April 5) and is running through to Easter Monday, although the railway will be closed on Easter Sunday.
