With the Easter holidays fast approaching, families across the North East are on the hunt for events to entertain the kids this year.

Whether you want to visit museums or forts, there are a whole host of fantastic events on this Easter in Tyne and Wear for everyone to enjoy.

Plus, the ever-present cost of living crisis makes it more important than ever to entertain the whole family on a budget.

The Northern Echo has looked at the best places to take the family this Easter, as events begin this Saturday (April 1).

1. The Discovery Museum

Located a short walk from Newcastle City Centre’s Centre for Life, the Discovery Museum is a must visit for an educational family day out, with entry being free all year around.

This Easter, the museum has events including spring time crafts for just a couple of pounds per child. (April 11)

Families can also get involved in ‘Parachute drop’, an egg game teaching the rules of gravity for just £4 per group. (April 4)
