Several 'lazy' and 'selfish' dog owners have been criticised for leaving piles of poo right next to a specialised dog poo bin.

At the end of last week, council wardens were patrolling around the Acton Dene area of Stanley when they spotted big piles of dog poo.

After the awful discovery, the wardens took to social media to shame the dog owners responsible and post a warning to other dog owners across County Durham.

While they don't know who dropped the poo on the grass area, the wardens put out the message: "This is just lazy.

"Our Clean and Green department have installed a new dog fouling bin in the Acton Dene area of Stanley however it seems that dog owners still can't be bothered to pick it up and place it in the bin.

"Dog owners - it is YOUR responsibility to clean up after your dog and dispose of correctly. Failing to do so will result in a £100 Fixed Penalty Notice.

"Neighbourhood Wardens have a duty to enforce against dog owners who fail to comply with the Public Space Protection Order.

"Did you know you can place bagged dog foul in a normal litter bin? A lot of people believe it can only be placed in a dog foul bin - but as long as it's bagged it can go in a litter bin.

After sharing the post, social media users took to the post to say: "just laziness so just clean your own dogs mess up," while another added: "Absolutely the pits, just take a few seconds."
