There are a number of street works and road works taking place across Darlington in the coming days, so we’ve pulled together a full list of works that you should know about.

A full list of roadworks could be quite long, but thankfully many of the works taking place are minor.

However, some of the works could result in disruption to traffic flow in the town, with some even resulting in full road closures.

Here’s the full list of road closures and major road works taking place in Darlington:

Northgate, North Lodge – Two-way signals

There are currently two-way signals on Northgate and they have been in place since February 24, 2023 and will be in place until March 12, 2023.

Works are being carried out by Northumbrian Water in order to urgently add a road plate and excavation work to renew a cover on a dangerous manhole.

St Cuthbert’s Way – Lane closure

Work is being carried out on the North bound side of the carriageway opposite Brunswick Street.

A lane closure will be in place on March 12, 2023, for the day, in order for works to be carried out by Northumbrian Water.

A manhole cover will be replaced as part of the works.

Houghton Road – Multi-way signals

Houghton Road currently has multi-way signals in place as of January 24 and will be in place until March 27.

The works are being carried out by Northern Powergrid from outside the substation to the junction with Salters Lane South.

Work will see a new connections including new cables and excavation work.

Geneva Road – Multi-way signals

Works here will take place at the side of number 86 Geneva Road and will be carried out by Northumbrian Water.

Multi-way signals will be in place from March 12 until April 2 and will see manhole surveys carried out.

Nesham Road – multi-way signals

Multi-way signals are in place here from Northern Gas Networks from January 13 until March 24.

It is unclear what works are being carried out here.
