A woman has been found dead and a man is in a critical condition in hospital after a heavy emergency service response.

Emergency services were called to a property in Middlesbrough at about 10.20am on Friday (March 3) morning.

A woman was tragically found dead at the address on Fosdyke Green. At this stage her death is not being treated as suspicious.

A man was taken to James Cook University Hospital for treatment where he remains in a critical condition.

Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: “Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing, however it is not currently being treated as suspicious.

“Our thoughts are with the woman’s family at this difficult time.”

There was a high emergency at the scene with three ambulance crews and the Great North Air Ambulance in attendance.

A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service added: “We were called to a private address in Ormesby at 9.47am this morning.

“We dispatched three ambulance crews, a specialist paramedic and a clinical team leader, and requested support from Great North Air Ambulance service.”
