A man has been seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash that saw firefighters have to free him from his vehicle. 

Emergency crews from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and officers from North Yorkshire Police were called to York Road in Thirsk at around 7.55pm on Monday (February 27) following reports of a single-vehicle crash.

On arrival, fire crews found that one male casualty was medically trapped in the vehicle.

Crews liaised with ambulance crews on the scene and carried out a full roof removal to enable the removal of the casualty.

The man was removed from the vehicle using a spinal board and transported to hospital suffering suspected neck injuries.

Crews made the scene safe and handed it over to the police.
