Kooper, Belgian Malinois - 1 to 2 years

The Northern Echo:

A young pup, staff at the trust have said Kooper will need owners around for him all day to help him settle in to his new home and build up his confidence.

This handsome boy is suitable to live with older teens aged 16 and over, and could live with another tolerant dog of a similar size.

Like many dogs, he is not the biggest fan of the vets, and as a result will require a muzzle for visits.

Trust staff have said he will require a reasonably sized secure garden for off-lead playtime and "zoomies".

Following some introductory meetings with the canine, those looking to adopt this lad can enjoy a long, fruitful friendship.

Gary, Mastiff Cross - 2 to 5 years

The Northern Echo:

This boy loves his food, so much so that staff at the centre have said it has been tremendously helpful in his training.

Gary has been described as a "clever" boy with a bit of a sensitive side, with loud noises proving particularly spooky for him.

Meanwhile, the trust have recommended he be adopted by an adult-only home (with no visiting children) where he is the only pet.

They have said he is a very clean dog, and will likely not need much house training.

Rehoming Gary will require some meets at the centre with a transition in to the home environment, therefore prospective owners will need to live local to the centre as he isn't overly fond of travelling.

Blueberry (and other puppies), German Shepherd Dog Cross - Under 6 months

The Northern Echo:

Blueberry and her siblings are looking for a new forever home this year, and would just love to make your acquaintance.

The centre are looking for a dedicated owner to help these pujps get to grips with housetraining and lead work and all of the basics.

They can live with a well trained, calm, adult dog which is fully vaccinated, and with children aged 8 years and above as long as they are up for "some rough and tumble."

For those looking to adopt these youngsters, anyone adopting a Dogs Trust pup under 6 months of age will need to attend a four session course of Dogs School to aid with training and social skills.

Walter, Jack Russell Terrier - 5 to 7 years

The Northern Echo:

A bit of an elder statesman compared to the other dogs featured on this list, Walter is still spry and full of plenty of energy (granted 5 to 7 years old would not exactly make him an old boy just yet).

A "playful lad," staff at the centre have said Walter would be best suited in a household with two adults, no children, and no other pets.

With that being said, he gets on well with pooches of a similar size out on walks and can have these companions.

Walter loves his toys, specifically a treasured tennis ball which he adores, and is always up for a game of fetch.

For those looking to adopt Walter, the trust is sure that he will make a fantastic companion for the right person.

Bella, Lurcher cross - 5 to 7 years

The Northern Echo:

Bella has been described by staff at the trust as a "fun and lovely girl," who loves plenty of attention.

This canine enjoy keeping busy and possesses a fondness for food, which the trust believes will aid in her training.

They have recommended a quieter home with older children (14 years) for the pup, and have urged owners to keep her on lead due to her "sight hound traits."

Adding to this, they said they believe it would be best if she were the only pet in her new home.
