The next stage of school strikes is set to take place across North East and North Yorkshire tomorrow (February 28), resulting in school closures across the region.

Thousands of schools across the UK are facing more disruption throughout the week as teachers go on strike over pay again.

Here’s a list of school closures we know so far, affected by the National Education Union (NEU) strikes.

School closure's in the North East and North Yorkshire

County Durham:

  • Bearpark Primary School
  • Castleside Primary
  • Cockton Hill Infant School
  • Consett Junior School - Class 5 and Class 7 are fully closed. All other classes are open.
  • Fencehouses Woodlea Primary
  • Hesleden Primary School - Children in Y3/4 (C3) should attend.
  • Leadgate Primary School - Nursery, Reception, Year 2, Year 5 and Year 6 will be open. Year 1, Year 3 and Year 4 are Fully closed.
  • North Park Primary School - Closed to Years 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6.
  • Oxclose Primary - Partial closure due to NEU industrial action. A letter with further information has been sent to parents and carers.
  • Oxhill Nursery School
  • Peases West Primary School - Partially open for Nursery and Years 5 and 6 only.
  • Prince Bishop's Community Primary School
  • Shotley Bridge Primary School - School is only open to C7, C11 and C12.
  • St John's CofE Aided Primary School
  • Staindrop CofE (Controlled) Primary School
  • Sunnybrow Primary School - The school will be partially closed. Classes 1 and 4 are open all day. Class 2 is closed all day. Class 3 is open until 12.30pm.
  • The Grove Primary School - Year 2 will be open and all other classes will be closed.

Darlington

North Yorkshire County Council advise parents and carers to contact your school directly for closure updates.

Individual schools will share school strike information directly with parents and carers, contact your child's school if you need further information.

Middlesborough

Schools will always contact parents directly to let them know about closures, often by email or text message. They will also update their website and social media pages. You can search for a school here.
