Fans of BBC's Call the Midwife will know that this Sunday, February 26, is the series 12 finale.

Ahead of the last episode, the drama has teased that fans will be left feeling emotional with hints that fan favourite, Trixie Franklin played by Helen George will finally be getting married.

Franklin is one of the original cast members and is set to tie the knot with Matthew Aylward played by Olly Rix, with members of Nonnatus House in attendance.

But, of course, things don't usually go as planned on Call the Midwife, with actress Helen George sharing that a 'tragedy' is set for the last episode.

Call the Midwife teases emotional series 12 finale

As Trixie prepares to be wed, Sister Veronica, played by Rebecca Gethings is in charge of the wedding gifts, whilst Trixie's brother Geoffrey arrives to help organise the perfect hen party.

But when a set of disasters take place, there are worries that love birds' big day could be ruined.

Whilst Dr Turner, played by Stephen McGann, is battling to save lives after a car crash in Poplar.

Speaking about the series' end, Helen told Radio Times: "I think there is a lot of romance to, I do think it's incredibly romantic.

"And there's problems along the way, there's teething problems with the wedding and we are introduced to Trixie's brother, Geoffrey, who is so much fun.

"He sort of becomes the wedding planner as well, so there's a bit of a 'My Best Friend's Wedding' vibe about it.

"There's a lot of calamity and fun to be had with it but of course, it's Call the Midwife, so there's a flip side.

"There's a downside and there's a tragedy, but there's also a very beautiful payoff and I hope people will really enjoy it, because we did."

But fans of the show will have to wait on the edge of their sheets, as they wait to find out if Helen was talking about Trixie's wedding or the car crash.
