An all-star cast including Jack Lowden and Hugh Bonneville will feature in the latest BBC crime drama The Gold, which starts this weekend.

A summary on the Radio Times states: "Crime drama inspired by the true story of the 1983 Brink's-Mat gold robbery, telling the story from the point of view of both the police and the criminals.

"When £26million worth of gold is stolen from the Brink's-Mat security depot near Heathrow Airport, long-serving DCI Brian Boyce arrives from counter-terrorism and sets up a task force to investigate. Meanwhile, robbery ringleader Micky McAvoy tries to dispose of the bullion."

The show is written by Neil Forsyth, will have episodes directed by Aneil Karia and Lawrence Gough and will last for six episodes.

When will BBC's The Gold air on TV?

The first episode will air on BBC One at 9pm on Sunday, February 12, with the remaining five episodes airing at the same time in the following weeks.
