Police have found a body in the search of missing Ripon man Gavin Dhont after he has been missing for over a month.

Mr Dhont was reported missing on December 13 and was last seen on Tuesday, December 6.

Police launched multiple appeals in search of the 45-year-old as officers were extremely concerned for his welfare.

Extensive searches have been undertaken to look for Gavin over the last few weeks, including the use of police dogs and the police drone, but to no avail.

A body was recovered from the River Ure on January 29 and has been identified as Gavin Dhont’s.

His family has been informed and they have asked for privacy during this time.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “Thank you to everyone who shared the appeal to find him, please ensure this is now removed from your channels.”
