Pictures of the final touches of a new supermarket in the North East have been released, as it prepares for its grand opening later this week.

Lidl has confirmed a new supermarket will be opening on the High Street in Norton on Thursday, February 9 at 8am.

The store is set to create around 40 jobs for the local community and new starters will be among the highest paid in the supermarket sector following a wage increase last October.

Its famous in-store bakery is set to feature in the store, along with customer toilets with baby changing facilities and ample car parking for cars and bicycles.

The store will be open between 8am to 10pm on Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.

David Murphy, regional head of property at Lidl GB, said: “We have received overwhelming support from the local community and are therefore thrilled to be opening the doors to our new store. With people continuing to tighten their belts, we’re in the best possible position to help shoppers make big savings.
