A teenager, aged 15, has been arrested after being caught possessing and selling drugs before assaulting a police officer.

Two officers from Cleveland Police approached a suspected drug deal on Diamon Road in Middlesbrough in the afternoon of Wednesday, February 1.

One of the males assaulted the police officers but was soon arrested, whereas the other male fled the scene before the police arrived.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing with intent to supply a class A drug, and assault on an emergency worker and released on bail pending further enquiries.

Following the search of an address further drugs were recovered.

Inspector Nick See, of operation resolve, said: “This is a great example of partnership working between Middlesbrough Council and Cleveland Police.

“I would like to thank Middlesbrough Council CCTV for their fantastic proactive work, and our officers for ensuring that this boy was arrested despite being assaulted.”
